This journal portion of JoannaKwong.com is a personal site, full of rantings, ravings and rejoicings.
This domain was purchased sometime in 2006, but was only periodically used from then until November 2007. It was intended to be the home to several web projects and aspirations I've always harbored, and it is still slowly becoming that -- I have yet to lose hope. As much as I love web design and development, upkeep has proven much more difficult and time-consuming in light of the rampant university rages we charmingly call "midterm seasons," and as a result, updates here have been rather slow.
A number of factors drew me back here, though. It had always been a lingering thought--but mostly just that: a thought. Never a reality. 2007 brought several large changes into my life, and I required a way of dealing. This Web site became a refuge and creative outlet in response to arising tough situations. I needed tangible proof of my commitment to some greater changes I had planned. And, well, here I am. Back home.
This domain is not my first nor it is anything close. It is the successor to my former Web site, Decadent5.net -- the product of yet another Web site expiration: Amaranthine-Reality.net. And preceding those two domains, I've also owned countless others, including several subdomains and free sites, which of course I now feel ashamed to have once attributed to myself.
I think over the years, I have strongly grown and improved as a web designer. I realize that I still have a lot to learn and improve, but I am slowly developing an ever cleaner style. I adore whitespace and pretty color schemes.

THE WEB DESIGNER
I have experience in a number of different web languages, though I mostly code using PHP, HTML and CSS. I design primarily using Photoshop, though I will sometimes dabble in other programs depending on what it is I am designing. I am completely self-taught in both design and code, and prefer to code everything by hand. I do have my web annoyances, as does every web designer, so you will notice that I avoid unstoppable music, cluttered layouts, fluctuating capitlizations and unnecessary fluff.
